The Royal Welsh Show 2024 showcased the Salers in all their glory and the results focussed on the easy calving females that outstrip any breed in maternal capability. Our judge for the day was Mr Arfon Hughes who had the hard job of finding his champion out of the great line up of Salers that where on display and forward at this years Royal Welsh Show.
Being tapped out on top this year was Parys Sweetie Pie from Gwawr Griffiths. Sweetie Pie a June 2022 Heifer by Lord Bisto and out Felin Mona Mai, she also stood overall Female Champion.
Standing reserve overall champion and male champion was from Bartie Facon in the form of Gentons Simba a February 2022 born bull by Murphy and out of Orientale. Simba also stood best senior bull. The best junior bull was awarded to Thor Atkinson’s Newland Unit a February 2024 born bull by Gentons Sargent Poll and out of Gentons Reine.
The junior female champion was awarded to Gentons Tequila a home bred heifer from Bertie Facon, Tequila is a January 2023 born heifer by Icare and out of Diane.
We would like to give a massive congratulations to Gwawr Griffiths and Archie Roberts for coming Reserve Champion in the RWAS Interbreed Cattle Young Handler.
The next day Gwawr Griffiths and Archie Roberts went on to compete in the senior young handlers competition where Gwawr won the section and Archie stood 6th. Gwawr then wen on to stand Champion young handler.
