The sun was shining at the first Salers Society Autumn Sale at Welshpool (18th October) especially on the Show Champion Seawell Icebreaker, a Feb 2013 born bull out of Seawell Feather (a Trafalgar Daughter), by Seawell Extra (from French parentage). Seawell Extra is a bull that is producing some impressive animals in the UK, as seen in this champion.
Reserve Champion went to Rigel Commodore a big, powerful sort, born February 2012. Commodore is sired by Casimir who passes on strong beef traits, whilst his dam Rigel Cora is known for her strong maternal traits, large pelvic area, strong growth rates and good udders. He made £3045 in the sale, selling to DJL Evans, Meiford, Powys.
The top price animal was a cow and calf bred by Harri and Sioned Pritchard which made £4,000. Felin Gobaith, sired by French Import Encens with calf Felin Jos, sired by French Import Cesar. A striking mother and son bought by Andrew Powell, Knighton, Powys.
