A good show of cattle was put before judge Alistair Mackenzie of Whitebog Salers, Fortrose at the Royal Highland Show.
Junior female champion was Cleuchhead Gentle 23rd from the Livesey family, Scottish Borders. Sired by Drumlegagh Brandon she out of Cleuchhead Gentle 10th, born March 2013.
Junior male champion was Roy and Adam Crockett’s Bacardi Impeccable, this April 2013-born bull is sired by French import Ultra, out of Cleuchhead Delilah 3rd.
Champion female came from Farmstock Genetics with the Vaillant daughter Cumbrian Ladybird 559. This impressive 2011-born animal was shown with calf at foot.
Champion male went to the Livesey family’s Cleuchhead Compo, born February 2013 he is also sired by Drumlegagh Brandon and out of Cleuchhead Mhairi 4th.
After deliberation the judge placed Geogre McCall’s Carrick View Heloise as reserve overall champion. Born February 2012 this beautiful animal was sired by French import Rio and out of French import Clarine.
But taking the show and in the judges words “one of the finest example of a Salers he has seen in a while” was Farmstock Genetics Cumbrian Ladybird 559.
