Trade at the Salers Society Sale held at Welshpool Livestock Market on Thursday was up to a top of 4500gns. This was paid for Rigel Jarrow Poll from the Pye family.
Sired by Amazonien he has strong growth rates and carries strong maternal traits from both the maternal and paternal lines. He was purchased by Messrs Saunders, Caerphilly.
In-calf heifers sold up to 2500gns for the Pye’s Rigel Onika, a daughter of Casimir who was breed champion at the Royal Show and male champion at the Great Yorkshire Show.
Her dam is the Rigel Othello Poll daughter Rigel Orinoco Poll. She sold in-calf to the polled homozygous bull Rigel Munro Poll and is due to calve in August. Purchasing her was Messrs Simmons, Devon.
At the same money was Rigel Coco Poll, also sired by Casimir she is out of Rigel Capocchia Poll, a Rigel Othello Poll daughter. She sold in-calf to Rigel Munro Poll in August.
Trade for commercial heifers was up to £1312.50 for a heifer from Messrs Jones, Chwilog Fawr, selling to Messrs Jones, Machynlleth.
