There was a packed sale ring at Kivells & Husseys’s Exeter Livestock Centre for their monthly catalogued sale of Breeding stock which was complimented with two excellent dispersals. Buyers travelled from as far as Monmouthshire and Essex as well as all parts of the Westcountry.
The sale started with a consignment of Salers bulling and yearling heifers from Steve and Carole Simmons of South Molton. Their heifers sold to a top of £1080 on three occasions, with others to £980, £920 and £910. In total they sold 20 to average £852.
Kivells Auctioneer Mark Davis commented after the sale “This consignment of Salers attracted huge interest and saw several farmers trying to secure them. Trade was so strong, we saw a huge premium above commercial value on these heifers and many buyers went home empty handed. This sale certainly showed that Salers are growing in popularity and many more could have easily been sold!”
