Homebred genetics were behind the second top priced Salers, Callander Smythe, by Callander Ted and out of Callander Silvie, from the Shepherds, Mains of Crieff. He made 3,000gns and went to Argyllshire producer J Gillies, Curacoa, Kirkton, Talynuilt.
The dispersal sale of Ian Wightman’s Tullyneddie herd peaked at 3,800gns for the three and a half year old bull, Beowulf Polled Clyde, a Rigel Othello son bought by J Shaw, West Lethans, Saline, Dunfermline.
Mr Wightman’s females hit a top of 2,300gns for a similar aged cow by Oldcastle Polled Gemini out of Tullyneddie Heiress 2.
Alastair MacKenzie, Whitebog, Fortrose purchased Tullyneddie Polled Heiress and her May born calf by Beowulf Polled Clyde.
