At this year’s Stirling Bull Sales on Monday 21st October 2024, three Salers bulls sold at a top price of 7400gns, with a sale average of £5,740 which exceeded October 2023’s sale up by £1,540 and a clearance rate of 67%.
First in the ring selling for 7400gns was our overall Champion Lot 157 Cammock Sumo from Niall & Katie Blair, Sumo a Bacardi Orleans sired son born in July-2022 out of Cumbrian Charmaine. He sold to Nicolson, Relugas Mains Farm Dunphail.
Up next also selling for 4000gns was Mr A. Mackenzie’s Lot 158 Whitebog Sinbad a July-2022 born bull sired by Napoleon and out of a home bred cow Whitebog Ivana. Whitebog Sinbad also stood Reserve overall champion and sold to Simpson, Hillridge Farm, Bigger, Lanarkshire.
Our last bull in the sale ring was from Gill & Malcolm Pye, Rednock Tam Poll, Tam a Rednock Oswald Poll sired son born April 2023 out of home bred cow Rednock Oriana. Rednock Tam Poll stood 4th in a strong line up of bulls and sold for 5000gns selling to Ormsary Estate, Lochgilphead.
The pre-sale show was judged on Sunday 20 October 2024 by Archie Roberts from Rosemore Farm Worcester where he farms with his family. They have three pedigree Suckler herds of Onley Salers Herefords and Beef Shorthorn. Archie is no stranger to the show ring competing this year and standing reserve champion pairs interbreed cattle young handlers at the Royal Welsh Show.
