RESULTS – 4 BREED CALF SHOW – DUNGANNON

The Northern Ireland Salers Club joined forces with the NI Blonde Cattle Club, NI Blue Cattle Club and the NI Simmental Cattle Breeders club to form a very successful 4 Breed Calf Show at Dungannon Farmer Mart on Saturday 27^th November 2021.

This event would not have been possible without the support of Trevor Wylie and the staff at Dungannon Farmers Mart, Alex Woods for handling the permits and the very generous sponsors Oddball Engineering, Dunbia and HVS Animal Health.

There were fifteen young Salers, both male and female, aged between 9 September 2020 to 16 May 2021, representing the breed from six different exhibitors and in charge of judging the animals on the day was Mick Dumbreck from the Crowgarth herd of pedigree Salers, Yorkshire.

Mick selected Drumlegagh Passion as his Senior Champion, a Drumlegagh Hamish sired daughter out of Drumlegah Eve. Standing Reserve to Passion in the Senior Championship line-up and from the same home was, Drumlegagh Parker a Drumlegagh Lunas sired bull, born on 9 September 2020 out of Drumlegah Gayle, both bred and owned by J & E A Elliott.

The Junior Champion was the third youngest heifer in the show bred by Geoff Wilson, Brookfields Ruthie was born on 3 April 2021 and was sired by Preenbank Lord Bisto out of Brookfields Petunia. Standing reserve to Ruthie in the junior line-up was P J Maginn & Sons, Lisnamaul Razzle, a February 2021 Herbin daughter out of Nivea.

Winning the pairs competition was Seamus and Christine Connell of Ballykeel Salers with Ballykeel Red Lady and Ballykeel Riquita.
