THE ULTIMATE SUCKLER BREED

Leading the trade for bulls at the Premier Show and Sale was the second prize winner Seawell Fitzroy from Peter Donger, Foxley, Towcaster at 7800gns. Purchasing him was Messrs Mitchell, Station Farm, Fakenham, Norfolk.
While female trade peaked at 7000gns for Drumlegagh Corissa from J and EA Elliott, Newtonstewart, County Tyrone. She was awarded female and overall champion by judge David Watson, Banchory.
The event had a real four nations feel about it with buyers and sellers from Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland taking part.
Reserve overall champion came from R and K Livesey, Firth Farm, Melrose with their bull Cleuchhead Zebra, which later sold for 4000gns to John Heard, Devon.
Commercial heifer champion was a pen of five Salers cross yearling heifers, which sold for £1380 to the judge Mr David Watson.
Overall conclusion of the sale was that it was a tremendous success and a great showcase for the breed which is now firmly establishing itself as the ideal suckler replacement.
