Entries open today for the Premier Sale scheduled for 6th & 7th November 2020 at Castle Douglas under auctioneers Wallets Marts. Deadline for entries is 21 September 2020. If you need to take DNA profiles or ascertain the myostatin status of entries please do so, as soon as possible. These results can take from 4-6 weeks to be processed.
These regulations will be updated in line with Government guidelines.
What we know
The Society will publish photos and videos of lots on the Society website www.salers.uk two weeks prior to the sale. Vendors please send your images and videos to Sian via www.wetransfer.com using the email address firstname.lastname@example.org
Buyers must register with Wallets Marts 01556 502 381 no later than 48 hours prior to the sale. The sale will be available to view online and online bidding and telephone bidding will be available.
Social distancing must be adhered to at all times throughout the market premises, whether this be inside or outside.
The only personnel permitted within the market are the market staff, vendors and purchasers. General spectators are not permitted.
Face masks are recommended to be used throughout the market facilities and are mandatory within office and indoor facilities.
Only one vendor per consignment is permitted within the ring.
Currently there is a restriction on the number of people that can enter the sale ring. These spaces will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Prior to entry you will need to provide market staff with your name, address and contact number.
To ensure we maximise the buying facilities socially distanced ‘Tic Tac’ areas will be provided.
We anticipate hosting a Salers show within Government guidelines and details of this will be published nearer the time.
The AGM will take place on Friday 6th November at 3pm socially distanced within the sheep sale ring. Numbers will be restricted and will be allocated on a first come first served basis again attendees will be provided to sign in.
A socially distanced parade will take place outside on Saturday 7th November 2020 at 10am.
The sale will commence at 11am. There will be a break between each category in the sale to allow people to leave the ring and new buyers to enter.
The presentation dinner cannot be confirmed at this time. Ongoing negotiations with the hotel will continue and members will be notified of the outcome as soon as is practically possible.
Accommodation & Dining – Currently the Market Inn is not open. They intend to open on 2 September 2020 for food only. Tables need to be booked in advance, people must enter via the front door and exit through the back door and customers can not stay at their table for more than 2 hours. If they are given the green light to open for accommodation, they will hold the accommodation booked last year. Please check your accommodation arrangements direct with your provider.

Finally, we will update this information as further guidelines are issued. The current situation means we will all have to be very flexible this year and things might change at short notice and for this we apologise.
